Special permission for residence
In some cases, special residence permissions are granted even to people who “overstayed” the terms of their visa.
For example, if you are married to a Japanese national, have children with a Japanese national and would like to raise them in Japan, or have lived in Japan for a very long time.
However, acquiring the special permit is not easy.
The Ministry of Justice will base their decision on a close examination, which can take up to one and half to two years.
So, consulting a specialist such as a Gyosei-shoshi (immigration lawyer) is highly recommended.
We will explain the procedure flow in details, starting from the first appearance at the immigration office to acquiring the special permission at the end.
